THE IDEA AWARDS 2012

The Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) was held recently in Lagos, in conjunction with Essential Interiors Magazine, Plam3 Strategic Communications. It featured an exhibition, symposium and awards/gala night on the 28th of September 2012, at the expo centre of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Exhibitors at the event were Svengali, Leather World, Cap Plc, Doshlaps, Il Bagno, and Protection Plus Security Ltd and Raumplus, amongst others. On Saturday 29th of September 2012, a round table conference of members of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI), International Design Alliance (IDA) and Interior Designers Association of Nigeria (IDAN), took place at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi. The post event dinner was held at the same venue, during which the “IDEA Book of Designs” was launched. The theme for the event was “Interior Design and Architecture in Nation Building”. It was chaired by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hie Excellency, Arc. Namadi Sambo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Housing. International guests present were the President of the IFI/IDA, Shashi Caan, President-Elect Marco Coello, Executive Director, Iris Dunbar, David Hanson, Luz Maria Duran and Osman Demibras. High points of the event were the adoption of the International Federation of Interior Designers (IFI) declaration, and co-opting the publisher of Essential Interiors Magazine and Convener of the Awards, Titi Ogufere into the Board of the IFI. Next year’s event is slated for May, and promises to be even better and bigger!! PHOTOSPEAK!!
