Saturday the 20th and Sunday 21st of April will not be easily forgotten as the Rock Cathedral in Lagos was formally opened. The 2 day event which commenced on Saturday was attended by notable dignitaries such as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan, and former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and The Rock Cathedral was inaugurated as a Center for Social Justice and National Transformation.
The Cathedral as a center for Social Justice will provide schools, hospitals and medicare to the less privileged. It currently provides legal aid to prisoners, as well as free healthcare to Ikoyi and kirikiri inmates.
On Sunday, the Rock Cathedral was inaugurated as the Metropolitan Church of Christ. In attendance were the Pastor and General Overseer of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Bishop Tudor Bismark of Zimbabwe, Bishop John Francis from London, and other members of the clergy representing the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN)
